Welcome to McLean County Radon Awareness Program Website!

ABOUT THE TASK FORCE:

The McLean County Radon Task Force was established in 1993 as a outcome of the McLean County Community Health Plan. It is a partnership among local residents, organizations, private and public health care providers. This project was initiated by the McLean County Health Department and is ongoing today as the I-Plan.

A Community Health Advisory Committee (CHAC) reviewed data from an extensive survey regarding health issues of concern to McLean County Residents. Lung cancer was on of the 5 major concerns and radon is known as the 2nd leading cause of lung cancer, following smoking. This task force was established to study radon levels in McLean County and to help residents learn about the presence of radon by testing by providing educational materials and public awareness.

MISSION:
The mission of the McLean County Radon Awareness Program is to reduce radon health risk throughout the community by providing education, assisting with research, encouraging testing and supporting mitigation.

You are encouraged to contact the members listed below by phone, e-mail or letters with your questions and concerns.
Most importantly, everyone should test their homes for radon. No one is required to install equipment in their homes
for mitigation and the results of the testing is only known by zip codes.

Members of the McLean County Radon Task Force are:
